Sengled bulbs not working with Alexa or Google Home: what changed

From Tomorrowish, the makers of Relight, an independent iPhone app for Sengled Wi-Fi bulbs. Every fix on this page works without it. Checked November 2, 2026.

If Alexa says your Sengled lights aren't responding, or they disappeared from the Alexa app, it isn't something you did. On July 31, 2025 an Amazon spokesperson told PCWorld that the Sengled skill "will no longer be available in our skill store starting tomorrow," because of "prolonged outages over the past few months," and an Amazon staffer called the change permanent. Sengled bulbs that can't talk to an Echo directly reached Alexa only through that skill. Re-enabling it or asking Alexa to discover devices won't bring them back.

What still works with Alexa

Google Home

Sengled linked to Google Home through the Sengled Home app and its servers, so it shares their fate: in the June 2025 outage the bulbs stopped responding in Google Home as well as in Alexa and the Sengled app. Linking again means signing in to Sengled, which is the step failing for many owners now. The route owners report working is Home Assistant: an owner in SengledTools issue #54 runs Wi-Fi strip lights through the Home Assistant integration and controls them from Google Home.

What doesn't help

Siri and Apple Home

Sengled only offered Siri through its own HomeKit-compatible hub, so Sengled Wi-Fi bulbs were never in Apple Home. Home Assistant can add them to Apple Home through its HomeKit bridge.

Questions

Why did my Sengled lights stop working with Alexa?

Amazon removed the Sengled skill on August 1, 2025, after what it called prolonged outages. Bulbs that reached Alexa through that skill lost their connection.

Can I add Sengled Wi-Fi bulbs to Alexa now?

Not directly. Home Assistant with the Sengled UDP integration can share them with Alexa, and a few ESP8266-based models can be flashed with WLED.

Do Sengled Zigbee bulbs still work with Alexa?

Yes, when they are paired straight to an Echo with a built-in Zigbee hub, such as the Echo (4th Gen) or Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen).

Do Sengled bulbs still work with Google Home?

Wi-Fi bulbs reached Google Home through Sengled's servers, which is unreliable now. Owners get them back into Google Home through Home Assistant.

An app for this: Relight

Relight doesn't connect to Alexa or Google Home. It is an iPhone app that controls Sengled Wi-Fi bulbs on your Wi-Fi. With Relight Pro you can use Siri through Shortcuts to run a scene or switch a light, as long as your iPhone is home.

It works only with Sengled Wi-Fi bulbs and strips (code starting with W), only while your iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi, and it doesn't connect to Alexa or Google Home.

Relight is an iPhone app from Tomorrowish. It needs no account and has no cloud: commands go from your iPhone straight to the bulbs on your Wi-Fi. Full control of 2 lights is free; Relight Pro is a one-time $3.99 for every light, scenes, Siri and Shortcuts, and a Home Screen widget. No subscription.
