Phomemo app asking for a subscription: what's free and what you can do

From Tomorrowish, the makers of Paperpaw, an independent app for these printers. Every fix on this page works without it. Checked November 2, 2026.

The printer is a one-time purchase, but the apps that drive it sell subscriptions. The Phomemo app (for the M02, T02 and similar) is free to download, and its App Store listing names four plans: Phomemo Pro at $8.99 a month or $32.99 a year, and Phomemo Pro+ at $12.99 a month or $36.99 a year (prices on the listing on November 2, 2026). Owners of the M110 family see similar offers in Print Master.

People notice. Under Phomemo's own M02 Pro post on Reddit, a new owner wrote: "When I hit 'print' I get an ad about 'free trial period subscription'. Really?? I can't print without a subscription?" A YouTube commenter on a popular M110 review asked: "The APP keeps asking me to subscribe! How can I print for free??" Recent App Store reviews of Print Master complain that features have been moving behind the plan. Not everyone is blocked, though: one Phomemo app reviewer (August 2026) wrote that without the subscription "you can't use as many things BUT that's fine".

1. Close the offer and use what's free

An offer screen is not the print screen. Close it and look for the tools that aren't marked as paid. What is free has changed between app versions, so check on your own copy rather than trusting an old video.

2. Started a free trial? Cancel it now, not later

A trial turns into a paid plan by itself. The Phomemo listing says the account is charged within 24 hours before the period ends, so cancel at least a day early. On iPhone: Settings › your name › Subscriptions, tap the plan, tap Cancel Subscription. If there is no Cancel button, it is already cancelled.

3. Charged by mistake? Ask Apple

Apple handles App Store refunds, not Phomemo. Sign in to reportaproblem.apple.com, choose "I'd like to", then "Request a refund", pick the reason and the subscription. Apple says to expect an update in 24 to 48 hours.

4. Buying for a child?

Both Phomemo and Print Master are rated 17+ on the App Store, so a child's Apple Account with age limits may not be able to install them. That surprises people who buy the printer as a gift for a kid.

5. Use the app made for your printer

If an app offers to unlock your model, check you have the right one first: Phomemo's FAQ lists the Phomemo app for the M02 family and Print Master for the M110.

Questions

Do I have to pay a subscription to use a Phomemo printer?

The printer works without one, but the Phomemo and Print Master apps sell subscriptions and some features are only in the paid plan. Which ones has changed between app versions.

How much is the Phomemo app subscription?

On November 2, 2026 the App Store listing showed Phomemo Pro at $8.99 a month or $32.99 a year, and Phomemo Pro+ at $12.99 a month or $36.99 a year.

How do I cancel the Phomemo free trial on iPhone?

Settings, tap your name, Subscriptions, choose the plan, Cancel Subscription. Do it at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

Why is the Phomemo app rated 17+?

That is the rating the App Store shows for both the Phomemo and Print Master apps. It means a child's account with age limits may not be able to install them.

If you'd rather skip the app trouble: Paperpaw

Paperpaw has no subscription, no account and no ads, and it is rated 4+. Photos, stickers, notes, labels and lists are free to print. Pro (banners, QR codes, PDFs, the design editor, every template) is a single $4.99 purchase, shared with Family Sharing.

It works with the Phomemo M02, M02S, M02 Pro and T02, and the M110, M120 and M220 label printers.
