CalRing Privacy Policy
The short version: CalRing collects no data. Your calendar is read on your iPhone and never leaves it. There is no CalRing server, no account and nothing sent to us.
Your calendar
CalRing asks for access to your calendars so it can find the events you chose to ring and keep their alarms in step when those events move or get cancelled. It reads them on your iPhone only and never changes them. You can turn access off any time in iPhone Settings → Apps → CalRing.
Alarms
Alarms are scheduled with Apple's AlarmKit on your iPhone. An alarm, its Lock Screen countdown and the "Next ring" widget show the event's title, time and place on your own device, the way the Calendar app does.
Settings
Which calendars ring, how early, and your rules are stored on your iPhone, in the app and in the iPhone keychain so the CalRing widget can read them. A small record of when CalRing last re-checked your calendar is kept the same way. Deleting the app deletes the settings; your iPhone backups may include them, depending on your settings.
Background re-checks, Shortcuts and Siri
Background refresh, the widget, and the optional Shortcuts automation or "Re-check CalRing" Siri request all re-check your calendar on your iPhone the same way the app does. Nothing passes through us.
"Copy a report"
The "It didn't ring?" screen can copy a diagnostic summary to your clipboard. It leaves out event names, and it only goes wherever you choose to paste it.
Purchases
The optional "CalRing Pro" purchase is processed by Apple. CalRing only learns whether your Apple Account (or your Family Sharing group) owns Pro; it never sees your payment details, name, address or Apple ID.
Ratings
Now and then, after alarms have rung for you a few times, the app may show Apple's standard "rate this app" prompt. Apple handles it; we receive no personal data from it.
What CalRing doesn't do
- No analytics or telemetry
- No crash reporting
- No advertising
- No accounts to create
- No third-party SDKs
- No network connections of its own
- No selling, sharing, or transmitting your data
Children
CalRing is rated 4+ but is not specifically designed for children. We collect no data, so there's nothing to handle differently for users under 13.
Changes
If this policy materially changes, the date at the top of the page will update and we'll note it in the app's What's New on the next release.
